PMO Manager – Finance
We are recruiting for a PMO Manager to join a critical Finance Transformation Programme. This high profile initiative is part of a wider cross-functional Programme of work and is designed to clarify and simplify our corporate structure, resulting in comprehensive changes to both our systems and our end to end processes.
Reporting to the Finance PMO Lead, the PMO Manager will act as a partner to Workstream Leads (WSLs), Global Process Owners (GPOs) and senior stakeholders. You will move beyond administrative tracking to actively drive delivery of your projects, challenge assumptions and work within the governance framework to ensure successful delivery, on time and within budget, through effective planning, monitoring and control of activities.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management & Delivery Ownership
- Milestone & Critical Path Tracking: Own several project plans, proactively monitoring key milestones, critical paths and cross-functional dependencies, preempting bottlenecks and working with WSLs to identify mitigating activities to ensure delivery is not impacted.
- Risk & Issue Management: Maintaining project risk, issue and dependency logs, seeking regular updates from WSLs, and escalating critical items to leadership.
- Project Planning: Creating and maintaining both high level and detailed project plans, ensuring alignment across other Finance workstreams.
- Stakeholder Management: Act as primary liaison with the WSLs and coordinate internal stakeholders (HR, Payroll, Finance, Tech).
Governance, Reporting & Actionable Insights
- Executive Support: Providing the PMO Lead and the Finance Programme Manager with high quality status reports for senior management and formal governance forums.
- Governance Maintenance: Maintaining programme documentation, including governance structures, meeting cadence, and decision logs.
- Reporting Coordination: Monitoring project progress, coordinating with WSLs to ensure status reports are accurate and submitted on time.
- Data-Driven Insights: Monitoring project KPIs and analysing data to provide actionable insights that support executive decision-making and course corrections.
Collaboration
- Stakeholder Influence: Partner with the WSLs and stakeholders, navigating conflicting priorities and driving consensus across workstreams
- Change Integration: Partner closely with Change Managers and Change Leads to ensure the delivery schedule aligns perfectly with business readiness and communication rollouts.
- PMO Excellence: Champion the continuous improvement and standardisation of project management methodologies, so everyone speaks the same ‘project language’.
Required Skills & Experience
- A strong background in finance is preferable, coupled with demonstrable experience working on Finance Transformation or Corporate Change programmes
- Exceptional communication skills, able to build relationships quickly and to influence and challenge stakeholders of all levels
- Experience with enterprise project management tools and software (Jira and Smartsheet highly desirable) and the ability to leverage Google Suite for advanced reporting and dashboards.
- Understanding of various project management methodologies (e.g. Agile, Waterfall) and the ability to adapt them to a fast paced transformation environment.
Abilities & Characteristics Required
- Ability to work autonomously under pressure, delivering high-quality outputs to tight deadlines
- Strong organisational skills, able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively
- High level of initiative, someone who doesn’t just flag problems but brings data-backed solutions to the table
- Strong analytical skills and excellent attention to detail
Qualifications / Professional Certificates Required
- Portfolio management or PMO experience is essential, ideally in a Finance Transformation environment
- Recognised professional project/programme management certification (eg. PMP, Prince 2) is highly desirable.
