PMO Lead – Workday Programme
Role Overview
We are seeking an organised, proactive, and analytical PMO Lead with extensive project delivery experience to play a pivotal role in our Workday transformation programme. In this role, you will act as the right-hand support to the Programme Manager, ensuring operational excellence across all administrative and strategic pillars of the project.
You will own the establishment and execution of robust governance frameworks, rigorous financial tracking, proactive risk management, and high-impact stakeholder reporting. This is a brilliant opportunity for a seasoned PMO professional to drive compliance and quality on a high-profile enterprise deployment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Governance & Reporting
- Maintain, monitor, and enforce the overarching programme governance framework.
- Coordinate, schedule, and prepare high-quality briefing packs for Steering Committees, PMO alignment meetings, and workstream updates.
- Consolidate disparate workstream updates into centralised, accurate weekly and monthly status reports for executive stakeholders.
2. RAID Management (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies)
- Own and actively manage the central programme RAID log, ensuring it remains an accurate reflection of the programme’s health.
- Facilitate regular RAID review sessions with workstream leads to track mitigation plans, challenge assumptions, and escalate critical issues to the Programme Manager before they impact delivery.
- Map and track cross-workstream dependencies, highlighting potential bottlenecks early.
3. Budgetary & Financial Management
- Track programme expenditure against allocated budgets, forecasting future spend and highlighting variances.
- Manage invoice processing, purchase orders, and financial reconciliations in partnership with internal finance teams.
- Provide regular financial health checks and burn-rate analysis to the Programme Manager.
4. Project Management Support & Audit
- Support the Programme Manager in tracking milestones, timelines, and resourceallocation across multiple workstreams.
- Conduct regular internal PMO health checks and mini-audits to ensure project artifacts, approvals, and documentation comply with organisational and implementation standards.
- Act as the primary point of contact for external/internal audit requirements, ensuring all necessary documentation is readily available.
Skills & Qualifications
Experience:
- Proven project experience, working within a dedicated PMO or project coordinator function.
- Prior experience working within a Workday implementation or a major cloud ERP transformation programme is desirable.
Technical Skills:
- Advanced proficiency with project management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, MS Project, Smartsheet).
- Strong financial literacy with a proven track record of handling project financials and Excel-based budget modeling.
- Familiarity with standard project methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid models like Workday Accelerated Delivery).
Soft Skills:
- Exceptional Communication: The ability to distill complex data into clear, actionable insights for senior leaders.
- Assertiveness & Diplomacy: Comfortable challenging workstream leads on dates, risk mitigations, and data accuracy while maintaining strong relationships.
- Detail-Oriented: A natural eye for spotting inconsistencies in financial trackers or project reports.
