Senior Software Engineer

Remote 100% now, occasional visits to the office in South London/Surrey borders upon working restrictions easing.

An innovative payments tech start-up within a larger bank is hiring its first UK based Senior Software Engineer.

This company specialises in products to improve the lives of people in emerging markets by making it easier to send them money. Their web portal and the API helps non-profits provide assistance to people living in poverty, agricultural firms pay farmers for their crops, and gig economy start-ups pay workers.

The Senior Software Engineer will work on an innovative payments platform that provides a simple way to send money to mobile money networks in countries across Africa.

You will be working closely with the CTO and team in the US using:

Back End: Java, Python, Kotlin

Front End: JavaScript, React

Database: PostgreSQL

Cloud: AWS managed in Terraform and Ansible

Ideally you are:

A strong engineer with at least 5 years’ of experience writing clean, production-quality code
A good communicator and collaborator who can work with colleagues in different countries, areas and with differing levels of technical expertise
Motivated by their mission and want to build technology that makes a difference
Excited to work on a small and talented team across all parts of the stack
Experienced with building and supporting cloud-based web infrastructure with Linux and AWS
Able to spot bad user experiences and suggest improvements.
Looking to lead a team in the future as they grow the technical operations in the UK
