Director of Strategy, Operations

 

Location: Lausanne, Switzerland

 

A market leading consumer packaged goods (CPG) company is seeking a Director of Strategy for its global Operations division.

 

In this role, you will take full ownership of developing a holistic and aligned Operations Strategy, translating it into complex programs and projects. You will oversee the end-to-end strategic cycle, including building, refreshing, reviewing, integrating, and implementing 3-year strategy plans for Operations (Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Logistics, Sustainability) in close collaboration with senior leadership teams across all functions.

 

The ideal candidate will be a dynamic and influential leader with a proven track record of developing and executing strategic initiatives in complex, global organizations. They will thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, and possess the ability to inspire and lead cross-functional teams towards achieving ambitious goals.

 

Key Responsibilities:

– Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive Operations Strategy aligned with the company’s goals and priorities.

– Conceptualize and implement complex and ambiguous horizontal transformational projects (e.g., Future of Plastics, Delayed Differentiation) within Operations, acting as the master orchestrator and resolving bottlenecks.

– Continuously assess changing dynamics and requirements for a global operations division, identifying necessary interventions through strategic programs and projects to maintain a future-proof business amidst disruption.

– Navigate Operations through volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity (VUCA) by strategically influencing and effectively communicating on strategic and transformational matters at organizational, industry, and macro levels.

– Formulate a strategic view on Operations inspired by external environments, markets, competitors, and best practices.

 

Qualifications:

– Relevant industry experience, preferably in an operational or CPG environment, with a track record of developing and implementing global corporate strategies.

– Proven leadership skills and ability to influence and inspire senior stakeholders across diverse teams and functions.

– Excellent problem-solving skills and a strategic, visionary mindset.

– Strong communication and interpersonal skills to navigate complex organizational dynamics and drive change.

– Highly analytical and data-driven, with the ability to synthesize information and translate insights into actionable plans.

– MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.

 

Preferred Background:

– Former Associate Partner or tenured Associate Partner in a consulting firm with experience leading large-scale transformational projects.

– Experience in disruptive business environments such as CGP’s, e-commerce, technology, startups, fintech, or financial services.

– Demonstrated ability to challenge the status quo, push innovative ideas, and exhibit thought leadership.

 

Compensation and Benefits:

– Competitive base salary range: 270,000 – 300,000 CHF

– Attractive bonus (30%) and stock (25%) package

– Comprehensive benefits package
