Introduction

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager with a technical Telecoms background to lead the resolution of network and installation issues across a range of fibre broadband networks across the UK.

Important

Fibre broadband network hands-on design and build experience is essential

Practical problem solving and fault finding and fixing skills are essential

Ability and attitude to ‘hit the ground running’, work to tight deadlines, and implement a clear and well-thought through structured approach to guaranteeing high quality network performance

The Job

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

Construct and manage issue resolution plans for specific locations where fibre broadband networks have already been deployed, but are experiencing significant quality and performance issues
Drive resolution of issues and mitigation of risks with the technical team, programme, and wider business, holding key team members accountable for delivery
Manage technical improvements, deliverables, their tracking and monitoring, and the quality of completion
Engage with external stakeholders such as councils, community leaders, residents and customers to ensure they are kept fully updated of progress and resolve any issues, concerns and complaints, both of a technical and non-technical nature
Maintain records of issues, risks, assumptions and dependencies as they arise and are progressed, including leading team-wide communication and review as necessary
Produce and maintain progress reports for tracking the above, including highlighting any issues or risks requiring attention, and supporting programme or business reporting as necessary
Lead regular project and technical reviews, ensuring optimum communication of project status and next steps
Demonstrate exemplary business behaviours and clear thinking, working in a structured and methodical way, to coach and guide the business in best practice ways of working
Skills & Experience Required:

Demonstrable extensive experience of fibre broadband networks, including problem solving and issue resolution
Demonstrable Project Management and structured problem solving experience (with of use appropriate recognised tools and techniques) gained primarily in a technical Telecoms environment, but ideally with a breadth of experience from other engineering sectors
The ability to interact with and lead the non-technical, council, community, resident, and customer-facing elements, specifically in dealing with issues, concerns and complaints in a constructive, respectful and professional manner
Relevant technical university degree or equivalent industry experience
Commercial awareness with regard to costing of projects and their business impact
Experience of managing disparate and remote teams
Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications
Strong communication and ability to build excellent relationships
Strong organisational & time management skills with the ability to work to tight deadlines in a calm and controlled manner
Resilient, persistent and enthusiastic; an individual able to deliver results to agreed time targets, capable of dealing with changing priorities
Adaptable and self-motivating
An eye for detail
Experience Preferred:

Extensive experience in problem solving and issue resolution on fibre broadband networks
A recognised Project Management certification or qualification
A practical problem solver
Business & financial acumen and analytical capability
 

Additional Information

Likely to be outside IR35, with final status based on a jointly completed status determination
Remote, but with travel (estimated at 10 days per month) to the north London office or build locations UK-wide
Initial 6-month contract with likelihood to extend for an exceptional candidate
